Repairs

Musica is the place to bring your broken instruments

We will tune your guitar (instrument tuning is always free, except for difficult and persnickety instruments like clavichords and autoharps).
For a nominal fee, we will re-string look over and set up your violins, violas, guitars, requintos, rebecs, cellos, pipas and what have you with pleasure.
We are are to deal with the crazyish problems that arise with electric guitars (weird bridge systems, electrical shorts and broken wire etal).

Eric Erkinnen, our in house repairing renaissance repair man (formerly a tech at Rogue guitars in NYC) is a master at repairing all things musical, transistor and tube amps, keyboards, resonator guitars microphones, and sound systems. He is especially happy to to restore old vintage instruments, but shows the same reverence for a eight year old broken uke as he does for a 1931 National Tricone.

Okay maybe not. But he repairs them both with the same competence and attention to detail.

Eric currently plays fingerstyle and bottleneck country blues and ragtime around
Columbia , Greeneand Berkshire Counties as well as Connecticut and Albany areas.,

Our band instruments are repaired by Luann Sciotti who founded Strictly Woodwinds a decade ago after working and learning for a period of time with Billy Cole, formerly of Watervliet and lately of Saratoga. She is fa ast, conscientious repair tech and a great bass player. She repairs our instruments in her shop in Rensselaer NY. She or her assistant Sheila pick up and drop off instruments once or twice a week depending on how needy we are. Usually you’ll find a significant difference (for the better) in the way your flute, sax, trumpet, trombone (or whatever) plays.

Most of our employees are musicians, trained and qualified to make minor repairs, tune or change strings on your instrument. Since they play an interesting and expansive array of instruments, the Musica staff is uniquely able to share knowledge on a variety of instruments and musical styles. Come and see us, we might be able to fix that old Chromaharp, zither or Banjolin from Grandpa’s attic!
